Japan Pilgrimage I Day 7 - Guest Blogged by 浪迹天涯小狗
On Shinkansen
Another early morning. WE'RE GOING OSAKA!!~
We checked out of New Izu Hotel and set off for a long ride to Shin-Osaka, then transferring to the domestic line for Tennoji. But we made a mistake. There's actually JR line at Tennoji so we actually do not need to buy the one-day pass.
Early Morning Street of Ueno.
Parking system.
If you think Singapore's parking rates are high, wait till u see Japan's. Its horrendously high. 300 Yen an hour? Thats about SGD 4.20. N its not even in CBD area!! We came across some that charges per half an hour. Very expensive..
15 degrees in Ueno, Tokyo.
Inside the Shinkansen.
Osaka Railway Map.
Upon reaching Tennoji, we took a while to locate the ryokan again as we headed in the wrong direction. 葆光莊 is very near the station, and althou hidden in the back alleys, they have a very nice entrance garden.
Its a big room, shared toilet and bath facilities, but its super comfortable. The owners of the ryokan are very kind people, even helping us to dry our clothes just now. (Too late, washer and dryer noisy, but we have accumulated loads of clothes that needed washing.)
We went out exploring Osaka after resting for a while. 1st stop, 四天王寺, bcos its just ard the corner.
Sewage Cover
How to cross arh?
四天王寺
Osaka is rather hot on this day. Mistress went ard with her jacket in her hands. Wow. The only time in Japan she's wearing t-shirt only!
This was where we stopped, cos u need to pay to get in. N inside is just those rebuilt buildings that are still pretty clean. No signs of history. No point.
Fierce-looking guardians of a memorial hall.
通天閣 (Tsutenkaku. Sponsered by Hitachi)
We had our late lunch at this eatery, that has quite a long que. Que = good.
Kushiage (串揚げ) Go wiki it.
Streets of Osaka
Billiken
Next stop, Tenpozan Ferris Wheel.
Mango Ice Snow Flakes.
Fish actually grows from the eggs!?!?
A ninja shop in the mall.
Beautiful sunset at the port.
Pics from the Ferris Wheel
Final stop of our exploration: Dotonbori.
They actually have FEMALE-ONLY carriages!!
We almost stayed in this hotel, luckily they do not have rooms, cos 葆光莊 is really good.
Dotonbori is virtually a food street. Very long, lined with restaurants and eateries. Crabs galore~ We had crab steamboat, which was very filling.
After all the exploration, we proceeded back to 葆光莊, and I believe we're the last customers to return.
Yoohoo~ Universal City tmr!
